Won't you Rendezvous?

Bay Area River People  – it’s time to put on your dancing shoes, grab a few friends and join us as we revel in the glorious global beats and treats that are lined up for this year’s Rendezvous for Rivers! Our line up is sure to knock your socks off as we celebrate the rivers and cultures that we work with around the world.

Rupa & The April Fishes are bringing their indie-roots-neoclassical-international sounds to the party as they share songs from their amazing new album, Build. Vickie caught this spirited and eclectic band on several tours through San Francisco and hasn’t stopped raving about their blend of languages, themes and musical traditions.

Not to be outdone, Conspiracy of Beards, a 30-member a capella male choir (who happens to have one of International Rivers’ talented board members as part of the cadre of performers) will serenade guests with music by legendary poet, novelist and singer-songwriter, Leonard Cohen.

But wait. There’s more!

Afro-Atlantic dance group Bravas pra Brasil will be joining us from Santa Cruz with 2012 Bay Area Carnaval’s Queen, Ashlee George. Make sure those dancing shoes are ready to samba, shimmy and move with these brightly-baubled dancers throughout the Public Works.

If you need a breather after all that dancing, toe tapping and hootin’ to the music, head outside for some grub from the best Bay Area vendors (line-up TBA, we have to keep a few secrets under wraps).

When you meander back inside, stop by the Artist’s Hallway to soak up artwork that celebrates water and the global communities with whom we work. Chat with the artists themselves and perhaps bring home a new piece to remind you of the amazing movement you're part of – the movement for healthy rivers and human rights.

In addition to all of the amazing entertainment, food, drinks, and mingling with fun folks you'll get to enjoy, there's another amazing set of individuals and institutions that makes events like Rendezvous for Rivers happen – our sponsors. We’d like to thank the following for lending their support for this raucous party: The New Place Fund, Jane & Jerry Baldwin, Leslie & Jacque Leslie, Bonnie Raitt, Marilyn Bancel & Rik Myslewski. There’s still time to join this growing list – opportunities start at $500.

Join us in a celebration that will take you around the world and take your breath away – all in one evening.

Buy your tickets before they sell out and make sure to RSVP on Facebook. We’ll see you there!
