Save the Mekong Coalition Letter Calls on Regional PMs to Cancel Dams on the Mekong Mainstream

On the occasion of the 2nd Mekong River Commission (MRC) Summit held on 2 - 5 April 2014 in Ho Chi Mint City, Vietnam, Save the Mekong Coalition submitted a letter to the prime ministers of Cambodia, Laos, Thailand and Vietnam calling for the immediate halt to construction of the Xayaburi and Don Sahong Dams and the cancellation of all dams on the Mekong mainstream, as well as destructive tributary projects including the Lower Sesan 2 Dam in Cambodia. The letter was sent ahead of the Second Mekong River Commission Summit on April 5th, where Mekong leaders are expected to meet to discuss the challenges facing the Mekong River and regional cooperation.
