Date:
Thursday, March 14, 2013

Click on the image of our 2013 map of actions and stories above to see the full version. So far we have received 38 incredible river stories, and heard about more than 160 events taking place in at least 40 countries around the world. Send us your stories and event details, and we will add them to the map.

  • Listen to our very own Kate Ross on KALW Your Call in San Francisco, talking about International Rivers' work and the Day of Action for Rivers on March 14, 2013!

Every year, thousands of people around the world lift their voices on the International Day of Action for Rivers, to celebrate all the world's rivers and those who struggle to protect them. By acting together, we demonstrate that these issues are not merely local, but global in scope. We hope that you are inspired to take action, and tell us all about your events.

In addition to collecting information about global actions on March 14, we launched a project of gathering inspiring and engaging river stories. We still want the story of you and your river told through prose, poetry or artwork, in an email or by mail. We would especially love to receive short videos or audio recordings of your stories. Our goal is to look for connections between the stories we receive, and to share them as widely as possible. Find out more!
