A four-part miniseries called Standing on Sacred Ground makes its broadcast premiere in May and June on the PBS World Channel in the US. The series is a co-production of Sacred Land Film Project and Pacific Islanders in Communications and has been eight years in the making. Each epsiode focuses on two indigenous groups from different parts of the world who are enganged in struggles to protect sacred natural sites and traditional homelands from governments and commercial interests. Several episodes involve struggles over water rights, and two of the groups - the Winnemam tribe in California and the Aboriginal clans of Australia's Northern Territory - are fighting to protect sacred river sites.
