On July 23, 2018, an auxiliary dam of the Xe Pian-Xe Namnoy Hydropower Project in Laos collapsed, unleashing a rushing wall of water that killed dozens of people and flooded thousands of homes and family farms in Laos. The floodwaters reached into northern Cambodia, destroying crops and property some 80 kilometers away.

Two years later, those affected are yet to see justice. The Xe Pian-Xe Namnoy project is now operational and exporting electricity to Thailand. Meanwhile, thousands of people who lost family members, homes, land and livelihoods in the tragedy remain in difficult conditions and without clear answers or accountability from those responsible for the disaster.

JOIN US for this ONLINE EVENT on Thursday, 30 July 2020, exploring the situation for survivors and the efforts to seek accountability from the actors involved in the project.
