A River of Talent

International Rivers - a River of Talent

As our anniversary year draws to a close, we acknowledge the tributaries who have made International Rivers a true River of Talent over the past 30 years. The beautiful map on the left depicts the 105 streams, creeks and rivers – also known as current and former staff members – who make up the great ecosystem of International Rivers.

With sources in the United States and in China, Thailand and Brazil, India and Zimbabwe, Europe and Australia, our river is truly international. It includes legendary headwaters like the Dubois and the Majot, deep creeks like the Pottinger and the Aguirre, and powerful tributaries like the McCully and the Imhof. And as our shared river rolls on towards the fulfillment of our mission, new rivers and creeks are joining our course.

The tributaries of International Rivers have accomplished a lot over the past 30 years. Together with our partners, we have stopped or delayed more than 200 destructive dams, and have made reparations for dam-affected people a reality. We have published hundreds of reports and supported a thousand partners with small grants. We have strengthened social and environmental standards in the water and energy sectors, and promoted alternative power sector plans for numerous countries and regions.

Our river has gone through many dry spells and dangerous rapids over the past 30 years but still rolls on, undammed. Our ecosystem includes the thousands of sources who sustain International Rivers through their generous donations. If you would like to make a year-end donation to keep International Rivers flowing in 2016, you can do so here. Thank you.
